Quasar was born in the mid-80s in Kentucky a few years prior to their family’s big move across the country to settle in Portland, Oregon. Spending most of the 90s there, Quasar’s family then moved out to Gresham for Middle and High School before Quasar eventually made their way back into Portland proper, where they currently reside.
A creative by nature with a thirst for making and doing, Quasar spent their formative years cultivating their craft through freelance before taking on traditional schooling. By 2014, they had graduated with a full degree and a renewed sense of self.
At the same time, they experiemented with live performance, music, and drag as a way to continue to grow, hone their skills, and have a creative outlet.
After years of trying out many different art and design practices, they made their first major hit with the “Progress” Pride Flag, which turned into an instant overnight viral moment and forever changed the trajectory of their career.
Since it’s creation, Quasar has had opportunities to work with many amazing individuals and corporations, including Wizards of the Coast, Sony Playstation, Riot Games, DC Comics, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Jinkx Monsoon.
Their work is also included in the permanent collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum of Design in London, has been flown at NASA Headquarters in DC, and was the first permanent flag flown on federal grounds at the Stonewall National Monument.
